When it rains the bottom half of our field which is in a depression gets flooded with the water from the properties all around running through our field before going through a viaduct under the railroad that runs down the one side of our property. It drains away within a few days but sometimes makes for great shots. Here is one from a few days ago of two of our brood mares.

Another muddy day

Mud, Mud and more Mud
We started the day at just on freezing and ended in the low 40sF but with the snow melting, the rain from the past few weeks and seven sets of four hooves the field has turned into a mud bath! I can't wait for it to freeze and stay frozen and then snow. This is today's picture of one of the 9 month olds in the mess. The grass etc. behind is the neighbors field! Wish I could get my hands on that, it is about 40 acres, would be fabulous!

Still Trying to Get This Right
Well we had a really wet soggy cold day today. Even though we had 1.5 inches of slushy snow last night it was all melting and everywhere I walked it wanted to suck my boots off because I was up past my ankles in themud!
I am dying for our first freeze and thereafter reasonable snow so all of the foals can get their first taste of snow. That should make for some interesting photos if I can get them without all the clutter of the roundpen, barn and neighbors houses in them.
Worked on a triptych of one of our two year olds today. She is a Blue Roan Paint Horse and has the most amazing markings, depending on what side you look at her she could almost be three different horses.
Not sure How it will turn out here.
