I am taking the easy way out again today, nearly up to date with all the barn work and we still havent got the ice, snow and cold, maybe tonight, dependable weather forecasters!!!
Thought I would finish the Monarch butterfly story. Here is a pic of the butterfly, a pic of the milkweed plant with a flower and the caterpillar. Quite a colorful bunch.
Promise I will be back to the horses and shooting tomorrow, especially if it snows, the babies should be quite excited to experience their first snow, they love to run and roll in it.

I can't wait to see pics of the horses in the snow. I can't believe you're hoping the freeze will come and I'm hoping it will go away. We're hauling warm water to the barn to melt the ice in buckets so the horses keep drinking. No small task for 25 horses. Sure do like your pics. The clarity and color are amazing. I need lessons.....

I will definitely get back to your blog and read up on the latest posts, it is just hell here at the moment. I have 16 horses at the moment which I look after single handedly but am fortunate that I have faucets in both barns which, if you switch heating tapes on when it is really cold and hang buckets upside down over the faucets they dont freeze. Still a pain to get the solid ice out of the buckets when it is really cold and to carry the water to each stall in buckets rather than using a hose. I have been thinking of having a big tank by the main faucet with a water heater in it so that I can just dunk the water out when I need it, but I do have to haul warm water from the house when they freeze solid, so I know the feeling.
You gotta admit we must love our animals to go through everything that we do for them LOL.

Lori, what great photos of the Monarch series. It's so sad up here that folks have been spraying the Milkweed and this past year I noticed (and others noticed as well) a definite decline in the Monarch population.
