24 May 2007

More bad news today. We have three mares in Iowa with a friend. He is the one who owned the stud that had to be put down a few days ago, Taxes daddy. Two of the mares were in foal to him again and one had her baby a few weeks ago, the other one, Barbie, was trying to give birth today and the colt was so big that she got into trouble. The vet and Elliot tried to pull the baby because she was in distress but they got it out as far as its hips and couldnt move it any further. The vet said it was the biggest foal he had ever seen. Unfortunately the foal died in the process, a spotted stud colt who would have been the brother of the yearling we have here called Dream. Barbie is still down and we are hoping that she will recover but she is not good. She is also the mother of Wiggle.

I am going to keep this short because I am really upset, he has just phoned a few minutes ago. I have posted a picture of Barbie, please pray for her, and her yearling colt Dream when he was about 5 months.

Hope you are all well. ((((Hugs)))))

Sometimes the animals know best and better than the people. I don't like to hear bad news but it is part of our lives. Good luck with the mother.

Today, the final pictures of the series, "A Day in the Life of a Robin," is online. I couldn't decide which picture to use. I hope you get to see them.

Sorry for the bad news Lori. I know this is difficult for you. Especially having so much news at one time.

I laughed though when I read what you wrote about me and Taxes. Unfortunately I wouldn't have a clue what to do with a horse. That is why I enjoy reading your posts so much.

I hope the mom pulls through.

Take care,

Mike

Oh Lori, I am so sorry that you have more bad news. It's hard enough to lose one horse but two in the same week. I can't even imagine.

I hope that the mare, Barbie, gets better soon and that your weekend is better.
