Mike you may be surprised to know that this handsome young man is your little buddy Taxes. He has become a wonderful little horse but still with the mischievious side just not dangerously so, since the brain surgery (that is what our vet calls gelding/castration LOL). He is now sporting a cribbing collar, he started cribbing when he was 7 months old!!! I suppose being an only baby last year and then being stalled because of his cuts on his legs it was inevitable.
While I was watching Taxes (I turned him out with Wiggle, tried to put him with all 3 but they ganged up on him so i am going to have to do this slowly) and wanted to keep an eye on things for a while to make sure Wiggle wasnt a total witch to him, I saw this buzzard walking across the hay field behind us that had just been cut and baled in big round bales. After a bit it took off and came flying over towards the barn and I managed to snap these two shots as it flew over.
It was extremely hot this afternoon after starting out really nice and comfortable this morning. I hope all you Floridians are staying safe from the storms you are experiencing we willl hopefully get the tail end of them in the ext few days, we really need the rain in this east/central section of the state. Everyone else has had floods and tornados but we just seem to miss out on it every time, not that I am complaining mind, the tornados can stay away, I just want a little of the rain.
Hope you all have a great weekend. (((Hugs))))

Great pictures you have posted. I loved the first one with the horse...action and elegance. And the birdshots were great too. It is not easy to capture birds in flight - I have tried this summer, with mixed results. Have a great weekend.

I know, I said I was going to go watch TV. As usual, I didn't make it. Got a few shots of the babies(raccoons). One of them wanted to come in the house. I was sitting on the floor in the utility room with the back door slightly open, one of them got curious and came toward the door. I slowly closed it, but left enough room to watch what he was doing.
Great shots of Taxes and the buzzard. You can even see the buzzard's ugly red head! LOL

I am with you.
We need rain.
The horses look fabulous and Taxes looks great. The buzzard must have found some smell in the hay that attracted it.
I will put the Deer Hunting story on the Brookville Blog for Sunday (or tomorrow). I sometimes wonder if I could still walk through the woods without making a sound.
The new header is a beautiful photo, I had to wonder for a second if they were the same horse and the photos had been merged.
So that's what a buzzard looks like? I've heard about them and read about them in books but we don't have them here, thanks for showing these pics!
You take really great photos. I especially like your new header
The new header is beautiful, all nice pictures, Taxes looks great too.
I saw a couple of buzzards the other day on my drive home from the barn...I was just stunned...never seen them before in Oregon...strange..big birds. Love Taxes...love watching him grow up.

What a beautiful horse! Taxes has sure grown up. Now that I have actually ridden a horse I can just imagine him as he gets a little bigger!
We are dry now and have been so for two months. Up until the end of June we had the wettest year on record going, but that is by the wayside unless the fall turns torrential.
Best to you and Larry,
Mike
Thinking of you lots. Finally gotten around to posting on my blog again - please have a quick look if you have a second :)
Wow - Taxes has grown up! :)
Sending you love and {{HUGS}}

Got to your blog through Grey Horse Matters via something else. Excellent photographs! What kind of a camera are you using?

Lori, you truly live in paradise. Beautiful horses, buzzards, etc? Sorry for keeping away from the blog so much, I've been having a terrible time at work! I must graduate before the middle of next year so you can imagine the chaos...
Taxes IS becoming beautiful, why not offer him a goat instead of he cribbing collar? That's what we usually do here.
Abraços,
Luísa
