4 June 2007

Hi everyone, hope you all had a good Monday. We had a nice heavy downpour this afternoon (thanks Mike for sending it our way LOL) although it was not nearly enough. Hopefully we will have a few more like it soon. It was also much cooler and the next few days will be the same and then a big warm up, 90s. Yuk!!

Mike asked about Taxes yesterday. He was deep in the doo doo I am afraid. I have posted a shot that took of him yesterday and unfortunately he did the same thing to me and struck out with his front hoof which caught me on my forearm!!!! Bad Baby!!!!! When he was little it was cute but now he towers way above me when he rears so it is something that is going to have to stop and the learning process isnt always nice LOL. I still adore him he is such a little stud. He is so happy that the mares are in the field next door again, he was getting so lonely and so was his mother which I find surprising because she is a people horse and not friendly to other horses (the boss mare). Being cooler today they spent most of the day outdoors for a change.

I have nearly got the barn up to date, just have to put sawdust in all the stables which I am unloading straight from the trailer. The wind and rain this afternoon cut that task short so I didnt get finished. Tomorrow is another day. I want to ride Cayenne and Lori in the morning and exercise Gee in the roundpen for a bit. Then I need to carry on working with the yearlings getting them halter broke so that I can do something with them. I have to worm them all and getting the paste into their mouths is not always fun. I got the big horses done yesterday but not the yearlings.

L Taxes was born on 15 April so he is 7 weeks old now. His name came from a suggestion of one of my blog visitors Annette as15 April is Tax day (tax return submission deadline) here in USA.

Well I am going to try to catch up on a few of my fellow bloggers' posts. Hope everyone has a grat Tuesday. (((((Hugs)))))

OK, OK he is still a brat! I am sure he is a never ending source of mischief.

Glad to send the rain your way. Sounds like we may get more come Thursday.

Hope all is well. It is good to hear about Taxes. Don't let him get too rough with you.

Yes, I see that Taxes is getting quite tall, but still the little monster. Sorry to hear that he was naughty to you. If we were closer, I could fix that. I'm good with those naughty boy behaviors. Nip them in the bud real quick, I would. LOL

Glad you got some rain. We got a few sprinkles but not enough to cut down the dust. It's supposed to keep it up for a few days, so we'll see if it accumulates. In the meantime it's cooler and I'm getting horses worked. Free lunged 14 today and I feel like a zoombie but bet I sleep good tonight.

Hope you have a good day and that naughty little Taxes behaves!! LOL

Wonderful images! Taxes looks like quite the little character. I'm trying to get caught up on everyone's blogs, and am starting over (June 1 seemed to be a good time to try to do that). We had storms today that headed over the eastern plains, so hopefully they will still have some oomph when they make it to you.

Take good care!

Oh my. The photo is cute but the rearing-up like that can be serious to people. A man had that happen to him by a bull and the bull was being led from a cow he had serviced (the word might be wrong) and it broke the man's back. So you are right to nip it in the bud.

Of course, he doesn't know yet.

Thank you for visiting my blog. I appreciate seeing your name there.

Taxes was born April 15 - I knew that! Duh!!! I guess I was just asleep or something.

Anyway, it's amazing how quickly he's grown in less than 2 months! I've never been around foals much, so it's cool seeing all his baby pics as he grows.
